One thing that sets the Nothing Phone (1) apart from other smartphones in the market is undoubtedly its unique look. With its flat screen, rounded corners and twin camera sensors, the basic design will bear some resemblance to the iPhone 13; Even so, neither Apple nor any other major phone maker’s product has an array of LED lights on the back. However, it’s not just for show; Special light patterns show who is calling and there is a bar that displays the charge level while the device is recharging
On the other hand, the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s design didn’t particularly impress us. One reason is the sheer size of the object, which is large, wide and heavy, making it difficult to handle with one hand. Another confusing choice that didn’t win over our product was the absence of a special camera module, leaving the sensors bare and exposed.
The Nothing Phone (1) 6.55-inch OLED display is packed with high-end functionality. Since it supports HDR10+ and 10-bit color depth, it should be vibrant and immersive, and the adaptive refresh rate of 60-120 Hz will make it pleasing to the eye. The panel is made of Corning Gorilla Glass and has a resolution of 1080p, so it should be durable.
While the S22 Ultra’s display is larger than the Nothing Phone’s 6.8 inches and similarly loaded with fantastic features like HDR10+ and an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, there are areas where it outperforms the Nothing Phone (1). For starters, it boasts a screen with a resolution of 1440 x 3088 pixels, which is significantly higher, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Plus, the latest version of the protective screen, which should be quite scratch- and damage-resistant.
The Snapdragon 778G+ processor, which is in Qualcomm’s upper-mid range and offers 5G connectivity, powers the Nothing phone (1). While we haven’t had a chance to test it yet, we expect it to deliver respectable performance levels that are a notch below the best flagship CPUs available right now.
When it comes to the chipset, there are two different versions of the S22 Ultra, some using Exynos 2200 and others using Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. In our tests, we discovered that both of them produced higher performance levels. Was able to produce very high benchmark scores and outstanding gaming performance.
